At both the municipal and industrial levels, the present and future water infrastructures must rely on clean technologies to move forward with Sustainable Development Goals 6 and 14.
Shuqaiq 3
At the Global Water Awards’ gala, which was held on May 9th this year, Shuqaiq 3 desalination plant received an award in the Desalination Plant of the Year category. The highly energy-efficient SWRO plant is a key project in the modernization of the water sector currently being carried out in Saudi Arabia by the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC).
Shuqaiq 3 is one of the “mega plants” developed in Saudi Arabia. We know a lot about its construction and development, but today we will go into more depth on the special and innovative technical aspects that make this project unique.
The Shuqaiq 3 desalination plant, with a rated production capacity of 450,000 cubic meters per day and located in the province of Jizan, in southwestern Saudi Arabia, was inaugurated in a ceremony organized under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince / Mohammad Bin Nasser and the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Environmental, Water and Agriculture.
We have reached the last of the interviews in the Shuqaiq 3 series. Carlos Cosín, Chief Executive Officer of Almar Water Solutions, part of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, discusses the progress of the Shuqaiq 3 water desalination project in Saudi Arabia, and explains its significance for both the country and for Almar Water Solutions.
In our latest feature article on the landmark project, we spoke to Santiago Martínez, Managing Director, Concessions at Almar Water Solutions and board member of the SPV managing the project, to discuss why water structure investment is such a vital issue, and how Shuqaiq 3 fits into this picture.
