Abdul Latif Jameel began investing in the ‘Energy & Environmental Services’ industry sector in 2012, to spearhead development towards a more sustainable future.
Today, this encompasses two brands, ‘Jameel Energy’ with a focus on renewable energy solutions, and ‘Jameel Environmental Services’, concentrating on, and exploring the future of, potential water and environmental technologies, including desalination, water and wastewater treatment, recycling and reuse, and a range of advanced environmental services.
Our current core capabilities include water and technology, services and asset management, with new ventures in waste-to-energy, green hydrogen (water-to-energy), and mineral recovery.

Managing our most precious resource
Almar Water Solutions was formed in 2016, by Abdul Latif Jameel, to focus on managing our planet’s most precious resource – water – and is the flagship operating business under Jameel Environmental Services. Almar Water was created with an experienced and seasoned team with decades of proven management and a renowned technical international pedigree in this field.
Almar Water’s mission is to respond to the growing need for potable water for domestic, municipal, and industrial use, by implementing a sustainable program of desalination and purification, wastewater treatment, reuse, and recycling.
We also focus on collaborative development of hybrid renewable power and reverse osmosis desalination plants to minimize the energy consumed in water production and to reduce the carbon footprint of the desalination process.
