Almar Water Solutions participates in the World Infrastructure & Energy Summit in Barcelona

Last Wednesday, Almar Water Solutions and its Managing Director Project Finance, Felipe Guinea, participated in the 8th Annual World Infrastructure & Energy Summit (WIES). The event was held at the Crowne Plaza Barcelona – Fira Center in Barcelona, establishing itself as the world’s largest event to identify new projects in the infrastructure market and discover investment and financing opportunities.

Felipe Guinea moderated a session titled “A global perspective: Confronting the critical investment gap in water infrastructure”, where the following questions were analyzed:

  • Prioritizing investment in water: What fields require an increased focus on development: supply, water treatment or desalination?
  • Is the PPP model the best framework for mobilizing joint investment in water infrastructure by the public and private sectors? How might this vary in different parts of the world?
  • How can we integrate and take advantage of the analytical advantages of ‘smart’ technology in the development of water infrastructure?

During the session, Felipe discussed his career in the field of water project financing and how the sector is a safe bet for both private and public investment. He also explained how the BOT or PPP schemes represent effective tools for project financing, and a real solution in the fight against the water shortages that many areas of the world are experiencing.

Almar Water Solutions offers integrated solutions for the design, management and financing of water infrastructure projects in areas such as the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Its team of experts has extensive experience in the development of contract models that are beneficial for both its clients and investors.
