Sydney, Australia – 14 October 2022. Almar Water Solutions, a leading company in the development and management of water infrastructure and services, and part of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, participated in the IDA 2022 World Congress, one of the top events for desalination and water reuse, held in Sydney, Australia. The company was a silver sponsor of the event, with an 18 m2 stand in the exhibition area and participated in a large number of activities over the five days of the event.
On the first day, Carlos Cosín, CEO of Almar Water Solutions and president of the International Desalination Association, gave the welcome remarks and highlighted that “there are many reasons to be proud of the progress of the market. The installed capacity of non-conventional water resources (reuse and desalination) hit a new record during 2021, not only in terms of the number of plants but also in terms of size and capacity. The latest report from the United Nations recognized desalination and water reuse as key tools for generating new water resources to combat climate change and preserve natural water resources, restoring natural water balance and reserving the resource for future generations.”
At the gala dinner, Carlos Cosín also received an award in recognition of his work as the association’s president between 2019-2022.
Meanwhile, Rodrigo Segovia, Chief Technology Officer of Almar Water Solutions, was the topic chair of the session “5.3 Emerging Contaminants in Desalination and Water Reuse” which featured nine technical presentations on the subject.
On the second day, IDA Leaders Summit was held. There, Carlos Cosín, in addition to participating in the welcome and closing remarks, led the panel “The Future of Clean Energy through Green Hydrogen is Non-conventional Water”, which included panelists Ahmed Mohammed Belajar Al Rumaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Energy of Abu Dhabi, and Juan Carlos de Pablo, managing partner of Ecoinversol.
Finally, Almar Water Solutions had an 18 m2 stand in the exhibition area where the company showcased its lines of business, the strategy of regional platforms and its greenfield and brownfield projects and where responded to the many people who expressed interest.
